At the kindergarten yesterday, there was a new girl, who said she worked there part-time, and her English was actually pretty good, and she said, “I can teach you Korean,” asked for my number. Exchanging them, one of the other teachers was jealous, said, in Korean, “Hey, I want to try.”

What the fuck, am I a toy?

Today at the other kindergarten, the owner told me to ask for 혜진’s number. I was so nervous, but I walked into her class, right up to her, and said it in (what I hope was) perfect Korean. I did as coached, and her too… (the owner later told me that she had told her I would ask for her number… so she was ready… both of us coached). Didn’t realize the phrase I used was for her to write it down, so she had to use a “Mickey and friends” notebook paper and a rugged pencil…

Now I have her number… not sure when I’ll text in Korean, as I told her. Damn—makes it so difficult. She can say, “Hi,” in English—that’s it. So nervous just that… too beautiful, and maybe she’ll make a good wife, but I trust no one now… especially Korean women, except…
